Gear and clothing for ice swimming
In the ice hole, people usually wear a swimsuit or go nude, but the walk to and from the hole often involves icy surfaces and even metal railings — it’s a good idea to protect yourself with swim shoes or socks and neoprene gloves. A warm beanie is also recommended to protect your head. Did you know? Beginners are generally advised not to submerge their heads completely: for some people, cold water in the ears can disturb their sense of balance.
